My daughter’s first concert experience

Happy Monday, friends! I want to share one of the most coolest experiences I had with my daughter this weekend. We went to a concert together! This was her birthday gift from us. I am 1000% all about giving my daughter memories over materialistic things, and I know this is one she will never forget. Last year on her birthday, i took her to New York. That is pretty hard to top. This one, though, might just come pretty dang close. My daughter is a HUGE Queen fan. When I found out back in March that they were coming to the states to perform, I couldn’t miss out on the chance to take her to her first concert. This had to be “The Concert.” I called my brother as him and his family are also big Queen Fans, invited my other little brother, and was able to get tickets for a full sold-out show! This weekend, we headed out to the BMO stadium in Los Angeles. Queen- Here WE GO!

El Gato Night Market

Yummy tacos

We were running a little behind on time, but we had to make a quick stop. Per my foodie brother’s request, we had to stop for a quick bite. The specific request – Tacos de Canasta at an outdoor food market place. Let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint. El Gato Night Market is about 15 minutes from BMO stadium in La. It’s a whole food lover’s experience. Anything you want, they have it. They are on Instagram under ( Nightmarket_elgato) but let me warn you. You will get very hungry. The videos they have on their page will make you drool. Street parking is kind of impossible since it is a tight residential neighborhood, so park at the parking garage across from it. It is literally crossing the street and only 10 dollars cash. There you will see dozens of food stands- Pupusas, Tacos, tacos de canasta, ceviche stand, rolled ice cream, churro stand, BBQ stand, Agua Frescas, Sopes, elotes, Asada fries, Pizza, Licuados Mexicanos, birria ramen, birria tacos, nachos, Chicharones, Sushi, EVERYTHING. This is an absolute street lover’s paradise . The only thing that disappointed was our lack of time to try more things before we had to leave for concert. We will be back and stronger than the first time. They are only open Thursday through Sunday. If I can give you one tip if you plan to go, it would be to take cash because they don’t take debit cards and a lot of stands don’t take Venmo either. All of them take Zelle, but the internet connection is not so good. Thank me later.

The concert

BMO Stadium

QUEEN came, conquered, and left us with a core memory we will never forget. It was beautiful to see people of all ages enjoying something so simple as dancing and singing out loud to their favorite songs from the band. The BMO stadium is an open stadium, and you see so many airplanes flying over during the show. It was pretty cool. There were younger adults with their parents and older adults, kids and teenagers. People of all ages. It is crazy to me how music unites people and how people who come from different places in life can relate to it even after all these years.

Waiting for Queen

As I saw the concert starting, I looked over at my daughter and saw her face light up with happiness. It is a memory that will forever make me smile. Years from now, when she is grown up, I will look back to this specific night and wish it hadn’t gone so fast. I try to spend quality one on one time with each of my kids, but spending time with my oldest makes me a little extra emotional. If you are able to, I recommend making extra special memories with your oldest. Time slips through our fingers like water, and soon, they will be off in life making their own memories. Time is such a gift we are so lucky to have.
