Burgers, family, fireworks and a Cuban Cigar ❤️

❤️🫶

Hi friends! Happy Saturday.  I hope you all had a great day celebrating the 4th with your family and friends 🇺🇲❤️ Fourth of July is truly one of my all-time favorite holidays. I love everything about it. I love the food, the family coming together, how the summer weather is just always perfect that day and the fireworks of course. I love celebrating our country. Every year, all our family gathers at my parent’s house, and we bbq before lighting off ALOT of fireworks. We spend all day together and its just such a LOUD but relaxing day. Read along for a recap of how fun it was this year.

Burgers, Hot dogs and Jalapenos

Dad bbqing for the fam

For food, every family usually brings something over. This year, I made about 100 bacon wrapped jalapenos (We are obsessed), and Julieta helped me make a good ole potato salad. My work manager made her version of it at our summer potluck in the office, and it was so GOOD. I couldn’t help but ask for the recipe. My dad BBQd burgers, hot dogs, ribs and my tia made us some yummy Mangoneadas. It is a Mexican shaved iced treat with fruit and chamoy mix if you didn’t know.  She handmade the mango syrup that she used over the ice, and they were so delicious that everyone had more than one! I don’t usually like sweets but I couldn’t resist. We had other salads and sides, and my sister impressed everyone away with her home-made onion rings and sweet potato fries.  For dessert, we ended the night with coffee and pastries. I think one of the reasons why I love the summer holidays is the food. I am all for a good bbq, and mouth watering appetizers.

I wish you guys could have smelled the Onion Rings

Family and Fireworks ❤️

This fourth of July was a little more special. This fourth was the first year that little Damian knew what was going as he was so small around this time last year. He was a bit nervous about the loud noises at first, but to My surprise he warmed up real fast. Fireworks are over the top in the area that my parents live in. Every single corner has fireworks most of the days leading up to the fourth and all that day and late into the night. Little Damian loved spending time with all his cousins, and this year we also had our new family member baby Landon joining us. My little nephew. Something about seeing all the nieces, cousins and nephews together makes my heart feel so full of love. My heart grows a couple sizes when I am with my family. I love that our families are making memories and raising a village together.

Cuban cigar

I know a lot of you might be shocked that I don’t really drink unless it’s a special occasion and I don’t smoke. Never have. However, I do love the smell and taste of a fine cigar. I think they are so old Hollywood cool . I remember watching movies like the Titanic, Scarface, Godfathers and watching the men who were meant to be powerful smoke their cigars. I’ve been invested. I like learning how each one of them come from different places, how they were made and what is in them that makes them so distinguished. I would love to become more of an aficionada and learn more about how to pair them, cut them and different cigar tastings. Not one Cigar is exactly alike. Anyone who has seen my bucket list knows that one of the things on my list is to visit Cuba one day and smoke a Cuban cigar while drinking a nice strong whiskey. Story time- So my brother texted me and said he had something for me  that would get me closer to crossing something off my bucket list. I had no idea what it could be at all. I have a long interesting bucket list. He surprised me with a Cuban cigar one of his friends gifted him. So, this was a family event and not my exotic Cuban vacation getaways, so I pretty much just lit it for the smell and some pictures then saved the rest for another memorable occasion. Cringe- I know LOL.

Let me share some of our Fourth of July Memories-

Wheather you partied big for the fourth or had a quiet day, gathered with your family or just laid low this day and had alone time, I hope that you enjoyed your day and remembered how blessed we are to live in a country of endless opportunities.

Baby spent most of night inside. He said it was cold and unless he had a sparkler he wanted to be warm.
