Easy and Clean Summer face Mask Ideas for Summertime

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday! How is it that we are almost halfway through the month and the kids are back to school next month? Didn’t summer just start? It’s been real busy. Not going to lie. If you have been following me for a while, you know I am all about eating clean, moving my body, and making time for myself. I know we are all so busy with life, but taking care of ourselves physically as well as mentally should still be a priority. We all know health is the new wealth and I am here for it! Lately, I have been struggling a little with my skin lately because of the weather. A few weeks ago while cleaning my kitchen, I found I had some avocadoes that were almost going bad. I already knew that avocadoes were good for many other purposes besides just eating them and that they were good for our skin but I didn’t know exactly how. It was time for me to put them to use.

I did some research on the benefits of simple clean ingredients I I had in my kitchen and tested out some really refreshing and brightening masks ideas. The ones we tried out are perfect for when wanting to give your skin a break from the products you use every day or even a fun idea for having a spa night for yourself or if you have little ones like me who love to be pampered. To my surprise, I learned lot of the one-time use masks that I have used in the past can contain ingredients that actually can harm our skin. Some of the products in those cool looking drug store masks can clog, burn or irritate our skin. Don’t forget our body absorbs everything we put on our skin. Here are 3 masks that my sister and I tested and approved of for that healthy summer GLOW.  I used 2 products as Base for the 3. Turmeric and raw honey.

Milk, Honey, and Turmeric Face Mask

1 Teaspoon of Turmeric (This can stain clothing or surfaces so just make sure you are a little careful with it)
1 ½ tablespoon of Honey
½ tablespoon of whole Milk

Mix all Ingredients together in a bowl thoroughly.
Apply on face
Leave on for 20 to 30 minutes
Wash off and Pat face dry
Admire your skin- It looks great!

What the texture should look like

For this mask, the turmeric and honey needed is a staple in my kitchen cabinet. I have my raw honey that I get from Trader Joes for Less than 6 dollars and will last me a while. I use it in my teas all the time, when I am sick and for some recipes that call for a drizzle of it. Turmeric I get from Trader Joes for a small price of about $ 2.99. I use it religiously to whiten my teeth when giving them a break from whitening strips. Been using it for years and I love it. My teeth turn out really white after using my homemade paste and I don’t harm them.

Milk:

Did you know that it’s believed that Cleopatra used to bathe in milk to keep her skin youthful and soft? We all know how beautiful legend says she was. Maybe milk was part of secret to youth? When combined with honey, Milk has many great benefits. Milk has important vitamins, biotins and other key ingredients that help clean pores, fight off bad bacteria, help with skin elasticity, help fade skin blemishes, brighten your face, makes your face less inflamed, and a wonderful natural skin exfoliator. The list goes on and on.

Turmeric

Turmeric has really good benefits for your skin as well. It gives you that summer brightness and radiance it NEEDS. Turmeric has actually been used dating back to thousands of years for healing purposes in the Chinese culture. Turmeric has a high concentration of Curcumin which is a very powerful skin antioxidant that helps slow aging and also acts as an anti- inflammatory on the face. You want all of this!

Honey also has antioxidants, probiotics and nutrients that will help tighten, plump your skin and nourish it. It can help diminish scars, help fight bacteria which will help fight acne and also give it the smooth feeling and moisturizing fresh out the spa feeling.

Cathy was a good sport about making and trying on face masks

Avocado, Lemon and Honey face mask

1 Avocado
1 tablespoon of raw honey
½ tablespoon of lemon juice

Mash the avocado until it is smooth adding honey and lemon until all combined.
Apply on face for 20 minutes
Wash off face and Pat dry

This one was my favorite masks to try! I love avocado and the fresh feeling I felt on my skin as soon as I put it on. When mixed with honey and lemon juice, it turns out to be the best combo for your skin. Avocado is already packed with so many oils, fatty acids, and vitamins that help clean pores, help with dry skin (exactly what I needed), gives you that healthy shine, moisturize your skin deeply, and help smooth skin irritation.

Banana, Honey and Turmeric Face Mask

1 teaspoon of Turmeric
About ¼ of a banana mashed
½ Teaspoon of honey

Mix all ingredients in a bowl and mix until smoothly blended
Apply on Face and leave on for 10-15 minutes
Wash off and pat dry

Adding the banana to the face mask will help reduce face redness and repair skin cells causing your skin to be even more moisturized and glowy, skin. The bananas also help remove any leftover toxins from other products that might still be hanging on to your face.

If you’re a busy mom/person like me you know that we unfortunately don’t always have the time to be getting facials or spa treatments daily. Sometimes we can’t afford to go as often as we would like. To me, squeezing in time to put a face mask on and relax with ingredients I already have is a big win. Even if you are able to get those spa days in, these face mask ideas can hold you over until your next appointment. You can mix, and match different ingredients in any face mask! You can add, you can take! Be fancy and add cucumbers to your eyes if you would like. Sometimes I add a couple drops of organic lavender oil to get that spa aroma in them. Think about adding oatmeal, substituting banana for papaya, do yogurt instead of milk! Every face mask with clean ingredients has its special unique benefit. All you have to do is look up what they are and go from there. Hope that you get to try out some of the face masks that I recommended and if you do, please tag me or send to me!
