Hi, Happy Wednesday everyone. I hope everyone has had a GOOD week so far. Last Tuesday, we celebrated my daughter’s 7th birthday. How is my baby 7 already?!! To celebrate, we headed out to the Santa Barbara Zoo for the day. We got the kids up super early and headed out for our early 10 am reservations. It was the perfect time to go since it didn’t seem to start getting busy or start getting really hot until we were leaving for the day. I forget how beautiful the Santa Barbara Zoo is sometimes. We enjoyed going on the Zoo train (It is free on Tuesday and Thursday in August FYI), watching the penguins swim, and the Gorilla enjoying his morning laying around. Actually, a lot of the animals were just hanging out taking day naps on the ground. We ended the day with lunch in Santa Barbara before heading back home for cake with the family.

If you ever get to meet someone in life like my Fatima, consider yourself very lucky. My Fatima is smart, caring, adventurous and oh so BRAVE. She swept us all off our feet the moment she was born. She is feisty and will always tell you what’s on her mind and she has a BIG GOLDEN heart. She knows to run to dad when she’s crying and needs to be held, grandparents when she gets disciplined by us, and to me when she wants to cuddle. Fatima might act tough at times because she is such a tomboy, but she is the first one to show how sensitive she is. Fatima will be the first one to stand up for someone and make things right. I have heard from teachers over the years how she isn’t afraid to speak up for classmates or herself if they aren’t being treated nicely by others and how much joy that brings them. She has shared stories of being a good friend and telling students to stop being mean to a friend, or even people from other classes that she doesn’t know. Young me would never have said anything if I had seen that happen because i was so shy, but Fatima will never not say anything in those situations. That my friends, is how I know I am raising good people in this world, and it makes me so HAPPY. The world needs more people like Fatima around.

For this blog post, I thought I would be so fun to interview the birthday girl and see what a 7-year-old really thinks like. Fatima is always talking nonstop all day and her conversation are always so cute so I thought this would be perfect! I got some of the questions off Pinterest and some I just came up with randomly. Listening to her answers was so fun and I highly recommend you try it one day with your littles. They don’t hold back and sometimes their answers will make you want to laugh out loud, plus you’ll have the memories of them to show when they are older! Try recording them, or their voice, or just writing it down like me!
