5 Foods that keep me energized all day long as a busy mom.

Happy Wednesday, everyone! In today’s blog post, I am going to share 5 of my super simple, most basic go-to foods that naturally give my body energy to keep going all day long. First, let me say, I used to be your Red Bull girly all the way. I would reach for a Redbull energy drink for that mid-day or busy day pick me up. I loved my energy drinks. Guess what?. It has been 5 years since I touched an energy drink. Like, who am I?! In all seriousness, though, we moms need all the energy we can get to keep up with our kids, our work lives, and everything else we have going on. Let’s be honest, as moms, we tend to always be running short on sleep and a little exhausted. Over the years, as I started to be more conscious of what I ate, I learned what certain foods gave me that natural energy and allowed me to ditch my energy drinks with all the added caffeine and sugar . I’ve even ditched afternoon coffee because of how jittery it can make me feel so late in the day! These are my top 5 favorite energy boosting foods.

Boiled eggs

You would be surprised at all the benefits that boiled eggs give our body. I love eggs in any way, shape, or form, but I especially love boiled eggs! I like to have them with Tajin, pepper, and Tapatio in the mornings or in the afternoon for a quick snack. I usually boil about a dozen and have them available in the fridge for the family to grab and go. Boiled eggs are so GOOD for you. They are such a good source of protein, especially for someone like me who runs and needs help repairing tissues and muscles. Try having them before a workout for the more natural and healthier energy option. Boiled eggs also help your skin, hair, and nails look good! They have essential B Vitamins that your body needs ( one of the benefits is turning you food into energy) and also choline, which boosts mental alertness. Boiled eggs essentially provide 6 percent of the recommended Vitamin A needed a day for our doeis, 2 percent of calcium, and 3 percent of Iron. I can never go wrong with boiled eggs.

Avocados

If I could have one thing for the rest of my life for breakfast, it would be avocado. I could eat Avocado by itself with just salt and pepper sprinkled on top or make it fancy with some vinaigrette over it. I add it to salads, sandwiches, toast, YOU NAME IT. Whether I enjoy a full avocado for breakfast, lunch, or afternoon snack, I know that it is going to get me fuled for the next hours. Avocados give us that natural energy because they are full of all the healthy good fats we need. Avocados also have a lot of vitamins like B6 and Vitamin C, which also help convert all your food into energy fast. Avocados also have so many other healthy nutrients that help balance our diet out, and they are DELICIOUS.

Broccoli

Another staple in my house at all times is broccoli because it’s so easy to make, super affordable, and everyone loves it. I love to throw in on salads, have it with grilled chicken, with steak, or even on its own.I even add Lemon and Tajjin over it for a quick and fun snack. A must try. Broccoli has so many healthy nutrients, minerals, fibers, and potassium that help in regulating your energy levels and make your body feel great for hours after. I like to microwave it, steam it, fry it, or eat it raw. You can have it ANY way you like. I also want to add that Broccoli is good for an endless amount of things. It also helps repair sun damaged skin and helps prevent against future damage, good for dental health, reducing chance of a heart attack, helps keeping bones strong, This is just a small list of benefits other than energy that you can get from this vegetable.

Salmon

Ok, if you follow me on Instagram, you know I am OBSESSED with Salmon. I can have it alone, on salads, smoked, with veggies. I order it at restaurants, and I make it at home all the time for my work lunches. Salmon is by far my favorite, most healthy thing I eat. Salmon is packed with Omega- 3 fatty acids. It is the easiest boost for your energy metabolism. Plus, another great added benefit to salmon is that it lowers inflammation in your body and also boosts your physical as well as your mental health. This is also one of those proteins that you can have, and it won’t make you feel tired afterward.

Hummus

Hummus is delicious and the most basic dip ever! It is super easy to make, but I am not there yet, LOL. (I do have a great recipe, though, that I want to try to make) I buy my hummus from Trader joes where I know that the ingredients will be clean and simple. I dip veggies, pita chips, or crackers and sometimes add it to lunch bowls or salads. Hummus is so full of fibers and proteins that give us energy without the added sugars or artificial flavors of energy drinks or coffees.

As always, make sure that you’re getting your 3 balanced meals in throughout your day. These are just my favorite food choices I love to add to my day. It keeps the body full of energy, and out of that sluggish, tired funk. I’ve fallen in love with eating clean over the years, and I’m a strong believer in feeling our best to be our best. As moms, wives, and everything else we are in life, we need to feel GOOD. I think that starts with what we are putting in our body, and if my post can get you to ditch a sugary coffee or energy drink and try one of the above, then I am a happy girl ❤️
