Marathon day is 58 days, 1 hour and 29 minutes away. I’ve got this. I have to have this-its too late to back out, right? Plus, I already shouted to the world that I am running 26 miles LOL.. If you read my life update blog post back in October or follow me on Instagram, you know I am finally running my first marathon. You might roll your eyes at all my running posts. I can’t believe I finally pulled the plug 3 years later. After much time spent with this race in my cart every year, I finally checked out. So, how’s it going so far? Runs are easy, no problem. Making enough time for them proving to be a little harder. My biggest challenge in this training by far is nutrition.
You see, I love to eat clean. I have retired my hot cheeto stained fingers over the years, and my relationship for eating fast food is non-existent. I have found happiness enjoying a simple home cooked meal, salads for lunch, and eating vegetables and fruits straight out of my garden. I am more conscious of what I put into my body now that I am older. However, what I was fine eating before I started running more is not cutting it for someone whose 10 miles runs can burn up up to 1200 calories. It also doesn’t help that I am an invisalign wearer, and that itself makes it harder to snack because of all the prep that goes into taking them out and putting them back in.
This week, though, I have been doing my research and finding more high fiber, higher protein, and more carb filled meals and snacks to help keep my nutrition top notch and continue replenishing my calories. I am also committing to making time to eat enough after my runs to refuel and re enegize my body. To be honest, I am just so busy that I tend to jump right into doing something else that I skip that treat that I owe myself. So this week, my goal has been to just really focus on getting enough nutrients and enough healthy foods in my body to sustain how much I am burning off when I run.
