5 things that I do every morning to conquer my day as a busy mom

Hello friends, Happy beginning of the week. What a week it has been so far! Here in our home, some of us are recovering from being sick this past weekend. We look forward to lots of rest and hope to have a nice healthy weekend in a few days. Today, as I was working from home, I thought about how much I love my morning routine and how consistent it has stayed over the years. I thrive on it, and to be honest, if I miss a step of it, my whole morning hustle feels off. Here are the things that help my days be good ones and just help me feel a step head as a busy mom.

Enjoy my first cup of coffee in silence

This is a non-negotiable for me. I love nothing more than waking up, crawling down my stairs, and coming back to life after that first sip of coffee. It has to be enjoyed before my kids are up, or it doesn’t taste the same in my coffee loving experience. A good cup of coffee, and I am ready to start my morning.

Look over my schedule for the day

As I am sipping my coffee, I look over my written down to do list, my phone calander, and my planner. They all have the same things written on it, but cross looking them over gives me a sort of satisfaction. I thrive on to do lists and writing them down on good ol’ fashioned paper. I always feel like I can accomplish them faster. By looking at my day in the morning, I can mentally plan for a long busy day, I can made switch things out if I need too and I can set alarms for any appointments I need to be at.

Moisturize, makeup, and some music

My usual everyday simple go to

I get ready for my day while the kids are still sleeping. I sip on my cup off coffee, I turn on my favorite morning radio show, and I enjoy the downtime before I wake up the kids to just make time to look good for it. This can take anywhere from 35 to an hour, depending on how much time I made that morning. When I am ready for my day, I then wake up my littles to get them started on theirs.

Stretch or workout

I used to be better at his, allowing myself more time to work out or go on runs, but with the current time change, I am now just doing 10 minutes to stretch my body. This is enough for me to just get my body going as I still make time to move my body throughout the day. It is a great get me going for my day and my mind.

Leave my house clean for the day

I am guilty of choosing to be running on time or a few minutes late because I chose to finish what random dishes left in sink by my husband or for taking out trash that was not taken out the night before. Those are small things that could easily be left for after work, but making sure my home is clean and ready to come home too after a long day of errands and work is priceless for me. I leave looking forward to coming home to a clean house to relax and enjoy my evening.
