Why Sunday resets are a must as a working mom

Hello friends and happy Friday! If there’s one thing I absolutely can’t miss in my weekend routine, it’s a good Sunday reset. It sets the tone for the following days, and it makes for an organized and calm week. If you’re a busy mom like me, you know that it’s impossible to function when your home isn’t clean, you’ve got unfinished to do lists, and your fridge needs a good restock. Add a full-time job to the chaos, and forget it. Here is why I love a good Sunday reset and some non negiotables I live by.

My reset allows me to focus on what really needs my attention

Non-negotiable #1-MandatoryWeekly quick cleaning of every room

If I have everything done by my Monday morning, I feel free to work on unfinished tasks and focus on feeling fulfilled in other areas of life. I feel more relaxed throughout the week as I cross off appointments, events, and become a full-time driver for my kids. There is no rush to come home and run around cleaning or stocking. I love to utilize free time to work on my garden, be present with my family, and work on my blogs. I can catch up in other parts of life ❤️

I can actually rest on my work breaks

Non-negotiable #2-Weekend laundry. It
Is my favorite. It’s so calming and peaceful to me. Put on a good show, and I can wash and fold it all!

I use my work breaks for walks and to get away from my desk job and move a little. Movement is really important to me. However, when I have unfinished weekend tasks to complete, even if it’s something as simple as cleaning out my car, I feel the need to have to finish it. I tend to like to prioritize that stuff over me time especially since everyone else is away, and it can get done faster. Sunday resets avoid me having to compromise my me time.

I am a better mom

Non- negotiable #3- Clutter Free home. As a now self-proclaimed minimalist in my 30s, I like everything room clutter free, and I love a clean space. This doesn’t mean we don’t have stuff laying around because we have kids and are a big busy family. This means that on weekends, we put everything back where it belongs.

No shame in saying that when my life, my home, my days feel organized and I feel in control of what I can, I am a better mom. My kids get a better version of me. A more relaxed and less stressed mom. Clean, organized home equals happy mom.

What are some of your must do’s before the start of a week?.

Non-negotiable #4- Clean outside of home
Our cute little backyard gets a quick cleanup every weekend, too
Non-negotiable #5 -Fridge Restock. Some Sundays, I can fully stock, and some I stock up on quick essentials before doing a full Costco restock.
