5 things I do every day that give back to me

Hi friends! Happy Monday and first official day of fall. Who else is blown away that this year is almost over as I am? I literally can’t believe it is almost October. I am very much looking forward to some cold and crispy, rainy cuddle weather. Fortunately for me, this current season has been so busy that even in the midst of time flying by, I am able to find moments here and there to slow down and embrace all the moving pieces. If you’re still here on my blog page, I want to say thank you for sticking around. I haven’t been posting as much as I used to on my blog. My goal for the end of the year is to continue to get back to weekly or bi-weekly blogs.

I want to share with you some small habits that help me pour back into my cup. When the day starts to wind down and the kids start to get in bed, I have done at least a couple of these things as a way to thank myself and reconnect with myself once again.

Get 10k steps in daily

I try every day! Of course, I don’t hit this goal every single day, but even getting close to it is a HUGE accomplishment for me. A huge motivation for me is to make sure I start early in my day so I can start seeing the steps add up. Quick tip: I always get up and go walk on my 15-minute breaks. Walking> scrolling. Always.

Less is more-Limit screen time in the evening

This is definitely a work in progress, but it’s something that I continue to try to practice, especially in evenings. If I fail and catch myself on my phone, I do my best to reset and get off my phone. Limiting my screen time allows me to be more present and get more stuff done and just be able to mentally relax. Knowing that I am not scrolling unintentionally brings me relief and comfort. A plus for me is that the time you are allowing yourself max to be on your phone to scoll makes that time even more enjoyable, in my opinion!

Nurture my garden

I’ve talked about gardening in previous posts, but something about gardening calms me so much. I genuinely love the process of cleaning up my garden, picking what is good to take, watering, and watching the process of it all. Every other morning and especially on weekends, I dedicate time to my gardening.  I bring out my cup of coffee and make sure my plants are thriving, and I like to admire them from close up.

Wind down with some hot tea

Unsweetened for me, please

Something so nice and quiet about just sitting down on my couch with a nice cup of tea. My favorite tea time, I must say, is when I am bathing the little ones. I enjoy getting them bed ready while I sip my nice hot cup of tea. I believe it is balancing out the bedtime craziness in my house. A plus for a health junkie like me is that Tea has so many benefits like calming you down,  relaxing your mind and body, and relieving you from stress. It’s a win-win for me and a must every night or later afternoon workdays. My favorites are chamomile tea and green tea. Just hot water water and tea. No sugars or sweeteners.

Wake up earlier than my kids

I will never stop preaching this! Wake up earlier than your little ones do, momas! Way earlier! I can have a whole day before they are even up. I have time to run, make my lunch, clean, organize stuff, garden, take out trash, do my makeup for work, get kids up, dress them, and do school drops offs before work. It is nice to know that when my house doesn’t  get “put to sleep” the night before, I know I have early mornings to Tidy up! That feeling of not being jn a rush in the mornings is one of a kind. It is absolute peace of mind all day.

Whatever you may do to help you find some peace in your busy day, may you always continue to make time for it ❤️  What are some things you do that give back to you?.
