Summer 2026 Wrap up

Hi friends, how is summer 2026 already coming to an end? Yes, I know that summer is not officially over yet, but with kids starting school, it feels like we are there already. How is it that as the kids get older, the summers tend to fly by even faster?

This summer, we did a lot of outdoor activities as a family. We did everything from playing outdoors at home or at the patk, to spending quality time having meals in our backyard. Even in the moments that it got loud, I was reminded that these times aren’t forever, and my little ones won’t be so little anymore. My main goal this summer was to limit our screen time for everyone. I would say we almost succeeded. We continued swim once a week for the first month after school ended, continued moving our bodies after work, and made lots of evening park trips. I logged in a lot of running miles this summer and improved my mile time! We had some exciting things growing in our garden, including our very first watermelon! It was so juicy and flavorful! We did a lot of at home cooking and definitely took a lot of pride in continuing to use our vegetables in our everyday meals.

This summer was our first full year living in our bigger home, and it has come a long way from when we first moved in. We have created a beautiful front yard set up and a very nice backyard one as well. We have continued to plant and grow beautiful flowers and plants as well as lots of vegetables and fruits. There were definitely many early summer mornings gardening while sipping a nice hot cup of coffee.

We had a lot of big highlights this summer. My daughter got her driver’s license this summer and my grampa turned 80 as well as celebrating many other birthdays in the family, including my daughter’s. We took a few trips to the fair this year and had the best time ever! My husband and I went to the Lainey Wilson Concert, and it was a lot of fun. The fair is so nostalgic to me and will continue to bring my kids every single year for the rest of my life.

Summer with family is the best, and I am glad we all were able to be together this summer. I hope that everyone’s summer was one that you’ll forever remember and that it holds dear memories for years to come.
